Gene Dunn is a distinguished martial artist, educator, and entrepreneur based in Brooklyn, New York. With over four decades of experience, he has significantly contributed to the propagation of traditional martial arts through safe, effective, and non-competitive methods.

Gene Dunn began his martial arts journey at the age of 11, training in Shotokan Karate. Over the years, he has achieved black belt rankings in multiple disciplines:​

Shotokan Karate: Under the tutelage of Mr. Toyotaro Miyazaki and Mr. Kai Leung.

Judo: Trained with Mr. Kyoshi Shiina.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu: Earned his black belt under Mr. Renzo Gracie.​

Muay Thai: Holds a double-black Pra Jiad under Mr. Jamie Crowder.

In addition to these, Dunn has practiced extensively in Kung Fu with Mr. Paul Vizzio and in Tae Kwon Do with Mr. Herb Perez and Mr. Kevin Padilla.

Beyond martial arts, Dunn hosts The Gentle Art Podcast, a platform exploring various aspects of life, art, and spirituality as they relate to martial arts.  He is also an accomplished visual artist, drawing inspiration from street and subway art of New York City, as well as artists like Jackson Pollock and Paul Cézanne. His work emphasizes disciplined daily practice as a path to progress.
